Cashmere gloves the fundamental luxury

You can feel the quality of Cashmere simply by touching or stroking it. The luxurious and softness of the fibre is what makes cahmere unique. The wool is produced from the cashmere goat. Cashmere goats produce a double fleece that is composed of a fine, soft undercoat or underdown of hair mingled with a straighter and much coarser external layer of hair called guard hair which is not used.

For the fine underdown to be sold and processed further, it has to be de-haired. De-hairing is a mechanical process that splits the coarse hairs from the fine hair. Once the fiber has been through the processes of de-hairing, washing, carding it is prepared either to spin resulting cashmere.

The fiber is AKA pashm (Persian for wool) or pashmina (Persian word extracted from Pashm) for its use in the home made shawls of Kashmir. This dates back to the 3rd century BC. The word cashmere is derived from a old spelling of Kashmir. Cashmere is fine in texture, and robust, light, and soft. Garments made of it provide fantastic insulation.

The cashmere is then ready to be dyed and converted into yarn and fabric used in our cashmere duds. Gloves, socks, hats and headscarfs.
